Senior Systems Analyst

As a Senior Systems Analyst with BASIS Curriculum Schools, you will be providing systems expertise and support to schools that are changing the face of independent education in the U.S. and international education around the world. Your work will enable our schools to organize the delivery of our globally recognized curriculum, identify what is working, and see where we can provide students with greater support to achieve at the highest international levels.

The systems that manage curriculum, students, assessments and school functions form a complex ecosystem that can be tricky to navigate. Your challenge is to help steer users of the systems through the complexity to drive the outcomes needed to achieve our schools’ purpose.

 

Senior Systems Analyst - main tasks

  • Preparing and verifying all data for end of year process and new year setup (e.g. entering school calendars, terms, school days)
  • Executing Power School end of year processes
  • Storing Grades
  • Managing and troubleshooting internal employee user rights and access permissions, coordinating with HR or company leadership as necessary
  • Tiers 1 and 2 of PowerSchool support and maintenance including interface, user account, reporting and data integrity
  • Developing customization (Level 3 support)
  • Managing all necessary data imports and exports reasonably achieved through the user interface (i.e. available through DDA, DDE, Data Import/Export Managers or existing APEX reports)
  • Developing and maintaining integrations, including Autocomm and API plugins
  • Managing and troubleshooting the syncs between BeLA, B.Schedule and PowerSchool, including any resulting data cleanup
  • Testing, maintenance and any relevant communication to schools related to any report or development request
  • Specifying the content, verifying the accuracy and updating existing autocomms and API for student information transmission from SmartChoice, B.Application or other application systems
  • Facilitating the flow of employees from the relevant HR systems to PowerSchool and on through into BeLA and any other downstream systems
  • Managing data imports and exports and data requests
  • Managing system upgrades
  • Updating existing data syncs and reports for new school years
  • Creation of new schools in existing servers
  • Implementation process for new servers
  • Maintaining final say over data content and format decisions to ensure network-wide consistency and compatibility
  • Ownership of data and reporting for any special programs (health, lunch, special education, discipline, etc.) integrated into PowerSchool

  • Strong knowledge of data systems, systems integrations and data flows across and between systems and typical systems issues
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems when there’s not an immediate answer and you need to "figure it out"
  • High sense of responsibility and ownership of systems success
  • Excellent communication skills in approach to customer support
  • Follow through skills that ensure full closure of issue resolution

Preferred knowledge and experience:

  • Experience with PowerSchool and systems within the BASIS systems ecosystem (BeLA, B.Schedule, B.CLAM, etc.)
  • Understanding of the BASIS Curriculum and academic program
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Information Systems, Data Management or related field
