Lead Summer Camp Counselor

Job Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Summer Camp Counselor to join our team for an exciting 8-week summer camp program catering to children in the TK-grade 5 age range. The Lead Summer Camp Counselor will play a crucial role in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for campers, fostering personal growth, and facilitating memorable experiences.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Leadership:

* Lead a team of counselors to ensure the smooth operation of daily camp activities.

* Provide guidance and support to counselors in implementing age-appropriate programs and activities.

* Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture that promotes teamwork, creativity, and respect.

2. Program Development:

* Collaborate with the camp director to plan and organize a diverse range of activities, games, and projects suitable for the TK-grade 5 age group.

* Create and implement age-appropriate curriculum that aligns with the camp's goals and values.

3. Child Interaction:

* Build positive relationships with campers, creating a supportive and caring environment.

* Address behavioral issues with a constructive and solution-oriented approach.

* Encourage campers to participate in activities and facilitate group bonding.

4. Safety and Well-being:

* Ensure the safety and well-being of campers through constant supervision and adherence to safety guidelines.

* Respond effectively to emergencies and follow established protocols.

* Administer first aid when necessary and document incidents.

5. Communication:

* Maintain open and transparent communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's camp experience.

* Conduct regular meetings with counselors to provide feedback, address concerns, and ensure alignment with camp objectives.

Qualifications:

* Previous experience working with children, preferably in a camp or educational setting.

* Strong leadership and organizational skills.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

* CPR and first aid certification (we will provide training if not certified).

* Passion for working with children and creating a positive and enriching camp experience.

Schedule:

* The camp runs for 8 weeks during the summer. The Lead Summer Camp Counselor is expected to commit to the full duration of the program, including two weeks of pre-camp training.
